Families often need me to be the one that asks the emotional questions that they can’t. That is my role. It’s a part of taking care of my clients. When we complete a Health Care Directive we talk about what their personal feelings are on their end of life choices. It goes to beliefs and religion and spirituality–but that is not my role. My role is to interpret and facilitate the end they want into a legal document that will give them the experience and comfort they, and their family need. It is never fun, but it is gentle and celebratory in the bit that someone helps them voice their wishes and helps their family to understand that they don’t have to feel guilt, they are only carrying out the choices that were made by the one they love. It’s a final gift. #KarmaBank
