Equine Law

Attorneys Rebecca Bell and Kjirsten Lee share a longtime passion for horses. Rebecca's family owned and bred horses from 1969 to the early 2000’s. Their horses competed successfully throughout the United States and Canada. Rebecca attended William Woods University, pursuing a degree in Equestrian Studies for two years before completing her undergraduate degree at UW – Stout. While no longer active in breeding and showing, Rebecca stays in touch with the horse industry through her many contacts. She brings her knowledge and passion for the horses and the law to help horse owners navigate the legal arena. In addition to her academic training, Rebecca has been a Council Member of the Animal Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association, a Board Member of the Tri-State Horsemen’s Association and a Board Member of the Minnesota Arabian Horse Association. Rebecca has presented nationally and locally on equine law topics.

Kjirsten Lee started riding in second grade and never looked back. After receiving her “B” rating from the United States Pony Club, she took her Irish Sport Horse to college, where she was active in the Equestrian Club and on the Dressage Team. In law school she continued to ride, picking up a few training horses and balancing those clients’ needs and a competition schedule with her legal education. Today Kjirsten owns an off-track Thoroughbred, Gobain, with whom she competes in dressage and eventing. Kjirsten’s passion for horses took her to law school, and she brings that passion to her work with clients. Kjirsten is actively involved with the Central States Dressage and Eventing Association, where she serves on the Education Committee. She is also a Council Member of the Animal Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. She assists with Pony Club ratings on the local level and teaches beginning riding lessons on the weekends. She also writes a regular equine law column for Horse Nation and has presented on equine law to local audiences.
